Merry Keto Christmas!
Would Christmastime really BE Christmastime without the food? I know for a lot of us, food and eating has helped define the holiday season. Which is great! Being able to connect with family and friends over food is a beautiful thing.
What’s not so beautiful is the fact that a large majority of Christmas (or any holiday, really) dishes are loaded with carbs. You’re either stuck trying to navigate through all those carby Christmas dishes and hoping you aren’t screwing up your diet, or you take matters into your own hands… And create a keto Christmas that is so delicious, Aunt Sally will forget she ever even liked carbs!
Brunch
There's a 99% chance that I stay up WAY to late on Christmas Eve, and the last thing I want to do is spend hours making brunch in the morning. Never mind the fact that my kids are still young, so good luck getting them to wait for me to finish cooking before they can open presents!
Low Carb Cloud Bread French Toast
-Sugar-Free Mom
Traditionally, my mom has made some form of French toast every Christmas. It's kind of a thing in our family. I've (sadly) avoided it since I started my keto journey, so I'm SO excited to have a version I can enjoy too!
Low-Carb Bacon and Cheese Scones
-Primavera Kitchen
I've never been a big fan of scones, but these changed that. They melt in your mouth and hit all of the breakfast flavors you know and love. Just be warned, one is definitely enough!
Keto Frittata with Bacon & Ricotta
-Ketogasm
Look familiar? This may or may not have been the recipe that inspired the Ketogasm logo. It's so good that I wanted a reminder every time I visited my website. It is exactly the recipe I want to celebrate my keto Christmas morning with... And pretty much every other day of the year too.
Farmhouse Keto Breakfast Casserole
-Oh Hello Keto
If you're looking to elevate your typical eggs and sausage, look no further. The casserole style and tiny ingredient list makes this so easy to prepare, and it is sure to fill many bellies.
Zucchini Fritter Eggs Benedict with Prosciutto and Tomato
-Low Carb Maven
This recipe will have you feeling like Martha Stewart on Christmas morning. It will need some adjusting if you are planning on feeding a crowd, but it is so worth it. Plus, this recipe offers a great blender hollandaise, so it's still probably easier than standing over the stove and whisking away!
Dinner
A stress-free Christmas brunch means you can really amp up your keto Christmas dinner. Whether you're making the entire dinner yourself or you're just bringing a side, these recipes are sure to wow even the pickiest of eaters!
-Damn Delicious
Presents aren't the only thing you'll be wrapping this Christmas! In all seriousness, these are so delicious and so easy to make. If you need something quick and impressive, then look no further.
-Keto Connect
While guests are waiting for dinner to start, set out this creamy dip. Just don't be too surprised when it disappears before you can blink.
-Sassy Southern Yankee
Given that we're talking about keto, it should come as no surprise that there would be a meat-based salad. This salad does have more ingredients than my usual choices, but it all comes together perfectly.
Spring Mix Salad with Blueberries, Goat Cheese, and Walnuts
-Wholesome Yum
This is such a beautiful salad, and it's sure to be a crowd-pleaser! And while it is technically a spring salad, it is guaranteed to bring a breath of fresh air to any winter table.
Kalyn's Favorite Baby Arugula Salad
-Kalyn's Kitchen
While we're on the subject on freshness, I have to share Kalyn's salad with you. Not only do you get to feel fancy as you explain that this is a baby arugula salad, but this salad is also an A+ on the easy list.
Creamy Garlic Mashed Cauliflower
-Ahead of Thyme
I think we all know that cauliflower is the secret keto weapon. And yes, you've probably heard of mashed cauliflower. However, it is all the other flavors that make this cauliflower mash perfect for our keto Christmas.
Cheesiest Low Carb Mac and Cheese
-Kind Keto Mama
Remember how cauliflower is our secret weapon? Well, unlike other low carb mac and cheeses, this one DOES NOT have cauliflower. Nope, those are real noodles, baby. Aunt Sally will be crying over her forgotten macaroni once everyone sees this.
Low Carb Thanksgiving Brussels & Bacon
-Momma Fit Lyndsey
Technically, this is called a Thanksgiving side. But it works so well for Christmas too! I love the combination of bacon and brussel sprouts, and the flavors work together perfectly.
Creamy Cheese Broccoli Mash with Bacon
-Beauty and the Foodie
While we're on the subject of bacon, let me mention this beauty. It is a lovely little dish that works wonderfully as a Christmas side. Even the kids will be asking for seconds!
Rosemary & Mustard Crusted Baked Ham
-I Breathe I'm Hungry
In my experience, store-bought hams are usually covered in a sugary glaze. And if they're not, they're significantly lacking in flavor. Enter your new Christmas ham! The flavors will make your house smell amazing, and the taste will have your belly thanking you.
-Ketogasm
Everyone, even those on the diet, should have the option for a warm Christmas beverage, even those celebrating a keto Christmas. You don't have to feel excluded just because you're avoiding carbs.Given that this is hot buttered rum, it does contain actual rum. I can't promise it would taste as good without it.
-Intoxicated on Life
Growing up, eggnog was THE Christmas drink. My parents never bought it apart from Christmas days, and I could drink it until I'm sick. I'm definitely not suggesting I do that now, but when I'm looking for a touch of nostalgia this is my go-to.
Sugar-Free Peppermint Meringues
-Low-Carb, So Simple!
You can't have Christmas without the cookie, and these cookies perfectly embody the Christmas spirit. Make these on Christmas Eve to leave out for Santa, or keep them for yourself on Christmas day.
Have a wonderful holiday!
